BEST WISHES ON RATH JATRA FESTIVAL
OF LORD JAGANNATH
Dear Readers,
The Rath Jatra Festival of Lord Jagannath and His Sibling Lords has started at Puri, in Odisha (India) since 16-July-2026 and at various locations in India where there are Lord Jagannath Temples and also around the World where Lord Jagannath Temples exit and Rath Jatra is held and celebrated at different scales.
The Rath Jatra Festival of Lord Jagannath, the Annual Festival, is celebrated over a Period of 8-days, it starts with the "Gundicha Jatra" which took place on 16-July-2026 by leaving the main temple and Moving (Jatra) forward of the Lord Jagannath by Chariots along with His Sibling Lords ( Elder Brother Lord Balabhadra and Sister Goddess Subhadra ) over a distance to reach the "Gundicha Temple" which is supposed to be the Aunt's Place of the Lords. The Lords stay at the "Gundicha Temple" for a Week (7days) and take up their Return Journey for the Main Temple by the "Bahuda Jatra" ( Retrun Journey) on the 8th Day by the same Chariots that is going to happen this year on 24-July-2026.
The "Rath Jatra" Festival is Celebrated at a Grand Scale, at Puri, Odisha (India) which is the Main Abode of Lord Jagannath known as "Jagannath Dham" where Millions of Devotees of the Great Lord(s) gather to do the "Darshan " (Worshipping) of the Lord(s) during their Journey. The "Rath Jatra" at Other Places around India and the World is celebrated at their scales as applicable and possible at such places.
Rath Jatra is an Unique Festival where the Great Lords come to meet the Devotees leaving their main abode or main temple and when the Lords are on this journey anybody can have a glimpse of the Lords and Worship the Lords during their journey without any discrimination. I am placing below a representational picture of the Chariots of the the Lords, those are named as "Nandighosh" for Lord Jagannath (Red Colored at Right), "Taladhwaj" for Lord Balabhadra ( Orange Colored the 2nd from Right ) "Debadalan" for Devi Subhadra (Green Colored) at the Left.
Best Wishes to All on the Auspicious "Rath Jatra" Festival.
