TRIBUTE TO DR. V. KURIEN ON HIS 101st BIRTHDAY : 26 November

This is a Tribute to Dr. V. Kurien, on the "National Milk Day" which is being celebrated on 26-November ( falling on 26-November-2022 ), the Birth Day of Dr. Verghese Kurien, otherwise also, called as the "Milk Man of India" as well as "The Father of the White Revolution of India".


Volumes have been written on Dr. Kurien and his story can not be finished in some words, for his significant contributions towards the Dairy Development in India and in other spheres, during his lifetime, that has helped uplift the economic wellbeing of millions of farmers, both men and women spread over more than 6-decades of his effort, across India nationally. His contribution in terms of building and nurturing excellent institutions to sustain resiliently on long term basis in the interest of the society is well known.

I have also tried the little I could and have written a number of articles and notes on Dr. Kurien from time to time in the past, some of it are available in my Blog here that can be read at ease.

I have normally tried to place my articles on some of the excellent facts on Dr. Kurien, that are little less known or less published in public but are feathers on the cap of the Great Man and Towering personality, Dr. Kurien. I am writing this tribute based on one of such facts, for all the readers to digest, that helps to understand that Dr. Kurien, had an ultimate liberal mind, that traveled beyond the social boundaries to work for upliftment of the masses of people without barriers.

Dr Kurien had wished that after his death he should be Cremated and should not be Buried : A thought of his Ultimate Liberal Mind:

This wish of Dr. Kurien, to be Cremated after his death and not to be buried had definitely emanated from his mind as an Ultimate Liberal to cross the social boundaries and work for the masses of people starting from the bottom economic and social strata without barriers. Dr. Kurien, born on 26-November-1921, came originally from a Syrian Christian family of Kerala in India (this is as per the published records and being mentioned with due respect and without bias, for the purpose of evidencing only) and under normal circumstances considering the social traditions, he would have been buried after his death, however, he had categorically wished to be cremated ( the mortal remains to be burnt by fire ).
That makes Dr. Kurien's mind and thinking as an Ultimate Liberal, is one of the rares seen over the history, as he had wished the ultimate end of him quite liberally, that is rarely seen. As he had an Ultimate Liberal Mind at its root which is evidenced by this fact, he could take a journey and work his life time for the society without social boundaries and barriers. It is also a fact, that after his sad demise on 09-September-2012, as per his wish Dr. Kurien has been cremated at Anand (Gujarat) in India. I am sure, this fact on Dr. Kurien will be understood rightly with deserved respects.

With this note, I submit my Heartfelt and Profound Tribute to the Great Man Dr. V. Kurien on his 101st Birth Day falling on today, the 26-November.
