A FAIR AND POSITIVE VIEW OF EDUCATION SECTOR OF INDIA : THE COMMENDABLE GROWTH AND EXPANSION BENCH MARKED OVER 2014 TO BE RECOGNIZED AND APPRECIATED BY ONE AND ALL EVERYONE

Dear Readers,
In this Note I am going to dwell with a Fair and Positive View of Education Sector of India : The Commendable Growth and Expansion Bench Marked over 2014 to be Recognized and Appreciated by One and All Everyone in the National Interest. The note here, will be little bigger in size with some Researched Data being presented with it, please do read by giving some patience as the subject deserves the attention of all in the present situation. I am sure you will appreciate how much of time would have been spent in researching and gathering the facts and data you read here below and kindly try to give it the deserved attention in the National Interest.

The Comparative Data of Growth and Expansion in the Education Sector, showing where we stood as on 2014 and where we stand today in 2026 as the Nation of India, after the Incumbent Central Government led by our Hon'ble Prime Minister of India His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi Ji assumed the Office of the Hon'ble PM :

( Note : Researched Data as available in the Public Domain, Approximate and Minor Variations anywhere could be possible, by far Closest to Reality, IIIT Stands for Indian Institute of Information Technology while IIT Stands for Indian Institute of Technology to be noted duly above.)

Some Important and Must-Read Notes on Data  of Above Table:

1.  Medical Education has been given Great Thrust during last 12-years (2014 to 2026) to Grow and Expand Rapidly as we are a Highly Populous Country, other than Food, Clothing and Shelter , the Health is an Important Requirement of Life and High Demand for this Education in the Nation. However, expanding Medical Education, as it is a Highly Technical and Sensitive Subject for life involvement reason, Quality is Important for the Purpose of Life and NMC(National Medical Commission, formerly known as Medical Council of India (MCI) ) has Strict Criteria for Establishing and giving Recognition to a Medical College on many parameters starting from minimum Land Area of the Campus, Minimum Number of Bedded Hospital of the College and Many Criteria both in Quantitative and Qualitative Parameters. To cite a first hand experience of mine over a dialogue over it around the year 2012, with a Good Friend, a Batchmate of mine who worked in one of the India's Foremost Private Organization in the Healthcare Sector, maintaining a large Chain of Hospitals in India as well as Abroad, while he worked as CEO of a number of their Hospitals in India and also some posting abroad for some period, told me commenting that in their Entire History of their Organization for decades together, by trying all ways, they could establish One Medical College in one of the South Indian States because it was quite difficult for them also to meet the Strict Criteria of NMC(MCI formerly) then, even if they were an Organization of a Hospital Chain. The Strict Criteria of Establishing a Medical College is in National Interest and in the Interest of Life, it must persist and exist without dilutions. Therefore, it is not possible for the Nation also to increase the Medical Education seats Overnight, it has a huge cost, even if the cost is provided for, it has  operative criteria to be met that we should be able to afford it with certain time frame and the Government can not even push it recklessly unless the Technical Criteria Requirement is Achieved by a Medical College to be Recognized appropriately, and when we afford it we Expand and Grow in Medical Education, however the Growth and Expansion in last 12years we have achieved in Medical Education is Highly Commendable.

2. We have Expanded and Grown in Number of Educational Institutions  and Seats Everywhere which is very Commendable in last 12years  except in Over All Engineering whereas in 2014 we had Over Capacity and Over Supply, as it had less demand and less takes year after year among the engineering education seekers, for which there has been reasonable downsizing in the Private Sector of Engineering Education mostly, while keeping the Government Engineering Education Sub-Sectors rather Growing Phenomenally as can be seen in the IIT, IIIT and NIT Engineering Sectors as examples of it and it can also be seen in the Government Engineering Colleges under the State Governments where the Demand has been persisting.

3. Due to less demand of Post Graduate Education in Engineering and Agricultural Science and Technology, as the Students after doing the Graduation Degree look for jobs or Other Educational Areas like MBA etc, and many of them have, over time, developed less interest to pursue long number of Education Years to Pursue a Post Graduate Degree in such areas, while we have downsized seats in Post Graduate Engineering and remained at same level in Post Graduate Agricultural Science and Technology that can be seen above. However, the Post Graduate Medical Education is highly demanded where we have Expanded and Grown Rapidly in last 12 Years, however, Growing and Expanding in Post Graduate Medical Education has limitations for the Strict Quantitative and Qualitative Criteria Requirement of the Institutions that have to be Complied with First and Foremost and it can not be compromised, however at National Level we are trying our Best for it.

SOME CONCLUDING OBSERVATIONS :

1. The Nation has tried its best and have done commendably well after 2014 so far till 2026 to Expand and Grow the Education Sector in India under the Present Incumbent at the Centre under the Leadership of Hon'ble PM, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi Ji. All State Governments (whether Central Ruling Party Ruled  or Opposition Ruled States), all States have made due and good efforts to Expand and Grow it.

2. The National Education of India is Well Respected in the World since Ancient Times, from our Gurukul Days, we were known in the World for our Nalanda and Takshasila Universities of past in the World. Otherwise, how could so many and large number of Indians Migrated to the USA, UK and anywhere in the World for Higher Degrees while having basic Education in India, they also Taught There, Picked up Jobs of All Kinds and many are Global CEOs of World Level Organizations today. That Speaks of our National Education, while a few may differ in their views for any interest they may have otherwise, however it does not affect our National Standing.

 3. With a huge Population we have in India, there is Fierce Competition for everything starting from Education admissions to Jobs, there is a competition based on merits therefore, however, some among the huge number aspiring for it, try to adopt malpractice in trying to break the queue of competition and merits in their favour on which the Nation has tried to act and install remedials from time to time, that has to be seen with positive mind and taken due note of by application of proper and judicious thoughts.

 4. Let us see how the Competitive Tests have evolved in the World and in India also:

4.1.  The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) was created in the USA in 1953. A coalition of nine business school deans developed it, and the first official exam was administered on February 6, 1954.

4.2.  The GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) began in the US in 1936 as a joint experiment by the graduate school deans of four Ivy League universities (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

4.3.  The TOEFL exam was first administered in 1964 in the United States. It was developed by a council of educators and government officials to assess the English language proficiency of international students who wanted to attend American universities.

4.4.  The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) in India has its roots in 1961, when the unified IIT-JEE was first conducted for admissions to the Indian Institutes of Technology.

4.5.    The Common Admission Test (CAT) was first introduced on January 2, 1977.

4.6 .   The XAT ( by XLRI, Jamshedpur). IRMA (Anand) Entrance Tests etc. were started in 1970s and 1980s which were even manual then were respected.

5.0.     The Medical, Engineering and Agricultural Universities Entrance Tests were being conducted by the States and UTs themselves as their State CETs since 1970s and 1980s all over India by the States/UTs.

5.1.    The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was initially introduced by the Medical Council of India (MCI) on May 5, 2013. Following legal disputes, it was temporarily replaced by the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), but was permanently reintroduced as the mandatory single medical entrance exam in 2016.

5.2.     The National Testing Agency(NTA) was established in November 2017 as an AUTONOMOUS TESTING BODY. It officially took over and started holding major entrance examinations, such as the JEE (Main) and NEET-UG, beginning in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Then after JEE, NEET, CUET, UGC-NET etc. as an AUTONOMOUS NATIONAL TESTING BODY to bring in Uniformity and Parity Across the Nation. It is a relatively  recent effort of the Nation compared to others cited above, some Patience will be necessary at National Level for it to Evolve and Mature to Perfection, it is understood.

5.3.    The Autonomous Testing Systems mature over some time, while and when the Malpractices as get reported are acted upon and irradicated over time. Deployment of Technology helps that is going to happen also over time and the matter progresses. In India we had still some manual testing like NEET-UG, this is also going to be taken care of with Technology soon to irradicate any reported malpractice and can mature over some time, not in long future, may be in very near future as we read from the public media statements coming from time to time. Many Reforms are on the Cards and the Nation is Working on it Relentlessly and without Rest. We need to Stay with the Nation in its Good Efforts in such Direction and Right Directions.

 5. If some malpractices and aberrations by some miscreants were reported recently in India, adequate safeguard measures have been taken as we read from public domain. When malpractices get reported, the only course of action before the Nation and the Autonomous Testing Body is to cancel the test and order re-test or if it is reported before the test is conducted, withholding the test is the option available then, so that the miscreants who adopted or tried to adopt malpractices in any way do not take the undue benefit out of it and that is the way justice is done.

6. In a specific case before the Nation recently, if the Malpractices got reported in public, the Option of Cancelling the Test and Announcing the Re-test was the justifiable Option and Decision without choice as the test had already been conducted then. Then the Whole of the Nation, Every State whether the Ruling Party Ruled States or the Opposition Parties Ruled States have cooperated, Every Authority, Every Ministry and Even the Defense Forces of the Nation, All and Everyone in the Nation have cooperated for the Re-test to be done Successfully in the National Interest. The Retest Got done Successfully, then the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has acknowledged it in Public and Everyone's Cooperation  for the Successful Retest duly acknowledged on behalf of the Nation.  When the Chair of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India acknowledged the happenings in Public and the Actions were taken to put Remedial Situations in place and further actions are underway and being taken to bring the Culprits to book and for Reforms of the Autonomous Testing Facilities, the story by natural choice gets over there for all and everyone.

7. All in the Nation may take due cognizance of the facts in the Fair and Positive Spirit, those who are not understanding it and trying to create further issues for any Interest and any Interest anywhere they may have, and speaking of (Non-palatable) Languages anywhere targeting those incumbents who run the Nation in Due National Interest and then creating any unpleasant atmosphere in the Nation is not going to help anyone for that matter.

8. Speaking ill or not-good of our Own National Education while it is so much Respected in the World, we can only cut our own legs before the World and bring in bad name to our Well Respected National Education before the World, everyone may kindly consider with due fairness and pragmatism in the National Interest. Some people who resort to such conduct anywhere may not have even seen the data and the facts stated above in this note any time, they might not have even tried to see the facts and realities of the Nation being said here, they may be just throwing warm water anywhere having their eyes anywhere else.

Disclaimer : I say very clearly and as said above, that the above data presented in this Note are researched data from the Public Domain as it exists, while it can be close to the accurate and the reality, and can be treated as Approximate but there can be variations anywhere that may be possible with any authentic and exact numbers compared with any official and authentic data existing anywhere, a due disclaimer being placed here and none can fix and assign any legal responsibility on the basis of these data and facts, it is being made adequately Clear without Ambiguity.
