INDIA'S STRATEGIC AND BILATERAL TRADE DEALS OF CONTEMPORARY TIMES ARE IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST : THERE IS NO NEED TO SPREAD APPREHENSIONS AND MISGIVINGS ABOUT IT
Dear Readers,
I come back to address all of you after approximately a month, while I was not available due to a social commitment where as I was needed to focus there in and I could not reach out to all of you except that I wrote another article only 2days back that is here in this blog of mine.
During the intervening period of the said one month time, I have gone through various publications on the Strategic and Bilateral Trade Deals the Government of India has finalized or finalizing to be signed. All these Trade Deals are in the National Interest, the Government of India is ensuring the protection of India's National Interest Adequately and Pragmatically, there is no need to spread apprehensions and misgivings about such Trade Deals the Indian Government is finalizing with Other Nations else where.
The issue of Trade Deals came into the surface world wide after the Hon'ble Incumbent President of USA His Excellency Donald Trump assumed Office in January 2025, because his excellency tried to improve the situation of Goods and Services of USA world wide, as they had become quite stagnant, while USA was giving a lot of Tariff benefits ( very low import duty in USA for import of Goods and Services of Other Countries) at the same time, the Other Countries were imposing a lot of High Tariffs to USA Goods and Services in their Countries creating lot of barriers for access to it in those countries. The Stand of Hon'ble President of USA His Excellency Donald Trump has been in the interest of USA that is their choice we can not comment on it. Thus USA tried to renegotiate Tariff Deals ( i.e. Trade Deals ) with many countries of the World those who have been trade parters with USA, and India is one Nation who has been a very Large, Strategic and Long Time Trade Partner with USA.
Therefore Government of India has been pragmatic to renegotiate a Trade Deal with USA as a Large, Strategic and Long Time Trade Partner, by corollary it is justified and essential as well as in National Interest of India.
It may be remembered, that when we (India ) do not maintain Adequate Strategic Ties with USA, there will be Hostile Nations who will try to maintain Strategic Ties with USA that will not be in our National Interest. Similarly when we do not maintain Adequate Strategic Ties with Russia, there will be Hostile Nations who will try to maintain Strategic Ties with Russia, that will not be in our National Interest. Similar will be be the case of Other Important Nations or Block of Nations of the World such as UK, EU Block, GCC Block, Japan, Australia, African Block or any other Nation or Block of Nations who carry Strategic Importance for National Interest of India.
Knowing the Incumbent Government of India led by His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, it can be safely postulated that while negotiating a Trade Deal with USA or any other Nation for that matter, the India's Strategic Interests will be always protected and be never be undermined. I have seen some Apprehensions and Misgivings that have come in Media from various quarters, that are not justified grumblings regarding Farmers, Foods, Agriculture, Dairy and Other Basic Goods and Services.
A Trade Deal can never be Uni-Directional, it is Bilateral and it has to be Bi-Directional without choice. To give some examples, the products of Tree-Nuts, Processed Wines and Other such Products of Food Industry, Agriculture or Horticulture which in any case we are not producing in India and will not even produce in future, those are in any case being imported to India now, if in a Bilateral Trade Agreement the existing access already given to the Goods and Services of the Other Nation is given with a bit of Softer Stand (Tariff) to fetch a softer stand from the Other side there is no harm and that Protects the India's National Interest to be said safely.
I have seen and read from the Public Domain that His Excellency Shri Piyush Goyal Ji, Hon'ble Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Food and Civil Supplies, Government of India giving profuse and frequent statements and clarifications in public that the Trade Deals being negotiated with Other Nations are duly protecting the interests of Farmers, Dairy, Agriculture and the Basic Strategic Sectors of India in the National Interest and nothing to worry about it. In such a scenario there is no need for others to spread apprehensions and misgivings about it and bewilder the people of the Nation about such Trade Deals while the Trade Deals being done by Government of India with other Nations are adequately protecting National Interest and at the same time navigating to improve the Trade and Business of the Nation and the Commerce and Industry of India with Other Nations of the World.
