Tribute to Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain of India-who Passed Away at 73 yesterday(15-Dec-2024)

Dear Readers,

Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain -who Passed Away at 73 yesterday(15-Dec-2024) at San Francisco, USA, untimely was an Indian Icon, globally known, as an Indian Tabla Musician.

He deserves profound tribute from all of us the Indians. I am also giving the link of The Times of India Article of yesterday, wherein the Hon'ble Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has also condoled the untimely death of Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain saying very loud on him in a Twitter(Now X) message you will find in the following The Times of India Article.

Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain was repeatedly honoured with the series of Civilian National Honours from "Padmashri" to "Padma Bihushan" and was only one step behind the "Bharat Ratna" the highest Civilian Honour of India, for his exceptional reign on the music of playing "Tabla".

Tabla is one of the most important and one of the most difficult Musical Instrument to play. Why I am saying so is, at a very early age while I was studying I.Sc. (Intermediate Science) in my times, which was the 2-years education in Science after 11-years Matric Education in my times, that is the Present Age +2 Science Education, that is the stepping stone for Technical/General Science Degrees, after 10th Board ( after my times it has been reduced by 1 year from 11years education in India), I was very fond ot playing Tabla, and at college hostel those days I had a pair of Tabla Instrument with me. The Indian Classical Music is very much dependent on Tabla Instrument, and in fact no Concert or Musical Event is done or can be done normally without a pair of Tabla being played there in. It is a very interesting Musical Instrument, and at the same time it is very difficult to play as it requires tremendous presence of mind, focus on the musical tunes and rhythm, while both the hands, the entire body and mind remain totally involved while playing it, those who have played it should appreciate what am saying.  I could not pursue it more due to more focus on other educational areas, but it is always a loved musical interest area.

Possibly the genes of Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain were more strong for Tabla Playing and he made it to excel in it to have a Global Stature as a Genius of Tabla Musician, as in fact, he was the son of legendary tabla master Ustad Alla Rakha, who was also a very reputed and famous Tabla Musician of his times of India.

In fact, for the Students of Management, particularly those who work in the Marketing and Advertising Area, Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain was an Advertisement Icon, as he was very famous as the Brand Personality, for the TAJ MAHAL Tea Brand of "Brooke Bond Tea family brands", for its "WAH TAJ" promotional slogan. It was one of the most respected and successful Advertisements of the Brooke Bond Tea Family Brands of Unilever in India, and respected Globally, for  Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain being used as the Brand Personality in that campaign of Unilever, as a symbol of "Excellence and Ultimate" in its class of products.

Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain is no more in the world today, however, his legacy as a Tabla Musician of Excellence from Indian Soil and as an able son of India will continue to stay and be remembered in future....

Let this note be the Tribute to "Padma Bibhusan" Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.....
