LESS OR ZERO FIRE CRACKERS WOULD MAKE A BETTER DIWALI AND HELP TO THE ENVIRONMENT

This year, there has been a total Consciousness towards avoiding Fire Crackers during the Diwali through out India, if the reports that keep coming through the press and media are to be believed.

Avoiding Fire Crackers during the Diwali Celebrations is a Great Help to preserve the precious environment, not only for our living generation, but for future generations as well.

The Governments throughout India, the Judiciary and Courts, and above all the Citizens have shown commendable consciousness towards avoiding the fire crackers during the Diwali now.

Fire Crackers burst or sparkled during Diwali Days used to emit lot of carbon dioxide and other toxic gases and lot of pollutants such as metallic particles and other particulate matter to the atmosphere.

I can say about the City of Bombay ( Mumbai ) where I live for 17years now, one of the biggest metropolitan cities of India and in earlier years it was also known for the massive quantum of Fire Crackers and Sparkles Burnt during Diwali.

Previously it used to be almost for 3-4 days affair of Fire Crackers making noise, however this year it is pretty less and very rare. The Diwali Day used to be most spectacular while 1-2 days before it and 1-2days after it used to be quite noise of the Fire Crackers. It has gone into almost next to silence now.

I can't say that tonight nothing will happen, but it is expected to be very very less, still I believe it won't be zero, as it has been taken and believed to be a kind of traditional affair and some people following of it, in any case would be inevitable, however may be quite less in the present days compared to the previous years.

This year, I have not bought any Fire Cracker and I declare it to be true. Normally I used to go to buy Fire Crackers towards the afternoon of Diwali Day, because in the Afternoon of Diwali Day, the Fire Crackers used to be sold quite cheap, as the crackers can't be stored for next year easily and it is a head ache for the vendors who can't store the unsold stock, if it is not sold ( its risky and has legal issues also). They used to do a kind of sell off towards the afternoon of Diwali Day at cheap and throw away prices. I am not going to buy anything this afternoon.

Previously I used to buy and burst some fire crackers and burn some sparkles during Diwali. I have reduced a lot of it over the years and this year I have made it Zero purposefully.

The Diwali Crackers in old days, were also less polluting, better with less technologies or traditional technologies of those days . When I was a child, my brother and cousins put together, we used to buy good quantity of crackers made out of Palm Leaves, Or, Paper and Small Gravels with very little chemicals inside that were the ones produced and available then in Odisha, it was less injurious to environment when I compare with the present day crackers and sparkles.

However, as I grew up over the years, and  my children also found it good fun and joy during Diwali; I can see clearly that the Fire Crackers have really taken very ugly shapes and forms over the years as the technology has advanced and played for it.

Particularly, when the Chinese found India to be a very big Market for Fire Crackers, they started producing all kinds of ugly fire crackers that had found easy road into Indian Market over some years in the recent past. Now that is also getting checked and I think very less quantity of it, now coming to India from China.

This year the number of Shops/Vendors selling Crackers in Mumbai what is in public sight, is much less and really very low compared to the previous years. Otherwise in previous years for about a month, it used to mushroom around the streets and road sides of the city. It is a scene of rarity really in Mumbai this year.

Let us help the environment for our living generation and for future generations by avoiding as much Fire Crackers and Sparkles as we could.

Have a Nice Diwali, Safe Diwali and Happy Diwali.
