THE MISUSE AND ABUSE OF QUOTATIONS
IS LEADING TO MISTRUST OF THE AUDIENCE
I chanced upon a small
article written by someone named as Richard Bargas with the article title
"THE USE AND ABUSE OF QUOTES IN YOUR SERMON" published in the
internet on February 15, 2021. The internet link of the article is :
I saw the following Sermon Quotation with the image in the said article (the article link is also given there below), as an illustration, anyone can see it. Anyone can see, it has a quotation in the name of Abraham Lincoln the famous 16th USA President who lived in between February 12, 1809 and April 15, 1865 ( in office : March 4, 1861 – April 15, 1865 ) (vide the wikipedia link : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln )
At the same time, January 1, 1983 is considered the official birthday of the Internet. (vide the article of the University System of Georgia by the link : https://www.usg.edu/gal.../skills/unit07/internet07_02.phtml ).
Hence, Internet was not existing when Abraham Lincoln lived.
Therefore, Abraham Lincoln would have never said what is written in the below quotation, because internet even did not exist during his life time. Thus, this quotation is a demonstration of the Non-Authentic quotations being misused in the social media.
Lot of Quotations like
this (in the name of Great Men and Women of History and Contemporary times),
without verified authenticity, do float in the social media, that is leading to
mistrust and rejection of the audience at large. Such quotations are many times
floated with ulterior motives to exploit the minds of the people, and the
sensible audience are largely ignoring it. Sometimes the foul wordings and
language used in the quotations also indicate it could be non-authentic.
Thought to share this illustration with the readers, to take cognizance and act as you feel the best for you, when you see the quotations being floated in the social media.
