HOW ONE WOULD VALUE THE LIFE STYLE DISCIPLINE: PRESENTING A REAL LIFE CASE ( FOR THE BENEFIT OF MY READERS )

What I am presenting here is a real life case, observations are real and first hand, not hypothetical; and it would give some insight as to how would one value the life style for own benefit.

Recently we reviewed with some friends of mine who were batchmates of mine during a graduation course in a technical university from 1979-1983/84 ( the course was 4years from 1979-83 however got spread to first part of 1984 under some exceptional circumstances of the University ); regarding the present situation of of the batch considering the fact that almost everyone has reached the age level of close to 60 with small plus or minus.

Normally whoever passed out of this technical course, to start with, would either get absorbed in a State Govt Dept as an Officer of Class-II group, or in a Central Govt Dept, a Bank Officer or similar levels else where (as has been the experience in contemporary times) or they could go to a higher start depending on the career route they could take, hence, the candidate would be reasonably placed and would not have to go through economic hardship ordinarily. The intake to the course at the times of admission in 1979 was through an admission system of the State, something like a combination of Entrance Test having 55% weightage and rest 45% weightage given to pre-graduation studies existing at that time, such as Intermediate Science Examination Score (2years, like the +2 of present day) given 25% weightage and Secondary School Score (11years then, like 10th Secondary of today) given 20% weightage. Hence the intelligence/academic strength levels of the batch was well levelled among the batchmates. The passing Batch Size was 140 approximately.

What we have found out just last week is the following :

Out of 140 batch size, 16 of the batchmates have left the world within the age of 60 as I said above, that is a large, more than 11%, very sad situation due to such an early age departures.

We further, got into analyzing the reasons by which the 16-batchmates left the world and found out the following :

3-Batchmates were lost by Accidents/Accidental Happenings.

1-Batchmate passed away by Suicide due to his Personal(Social) Reason.

1-Batchmate passed away by Suicide not being able to tolerate the illness.

9-Batchmates passed away by Illness that can be reasonably assigned to life styles.

2-Batchmates passed away due to Covid-19 during last 6-7 months approximately.

We reached some kind of conclusion and shared among our batchmates of the above batch that except the first 4-batchmates lost (as mentioned above), the rest 12-batch mates (adding : 1-not being able to tolerate illness and killing himself, 9-passing away out of illness and 2-by Covid-19) could have survived and crossed over the present age to better longevity of life, if they could have looked at their lifestyles and attended to it appropriately.

In fact, the surviving batchmates, almost everyone felt for the last 2-batchmates who were lost to Covid-19, because they were the ones among the strongest and very healthy guys among the batch of 140. However, those two were also among the dare devils, careless and obstinate types as far as their life styles were concerned. Other 10-batchmates who passed away early mostly due to illness some way or other, could have survived if they could have handled their lifestyles timely and well.

We felt 60+/- is no age to leave the world, the world is very sweet and beautiful, the best could be to live longer and enjoy it.

Therefore, better to attend to one's own lifestyle, change it and correct it to remain fit and healthy to live longer.

One does not need lot of money or in fact one does not need money to have a healthy life style, it requires a bit of conviction of mind and following it by a matter of discipline during the life time. One does not need big powers or positions either, to have a lifestyle that could be better for health and fitness or to enjoy better longevity of life.

If you can not do anything other else, at least include 30-mins to 40-mins to 45-mins as you can, walking once during the day, if you can do that twice, you will do the great and it will cost you nothing. It is the most simple, but will contribute very significantly and powerfully to your life style and longevity of life. That will also give you signals and locations of your weak points also, to treat and remain fit to live reasonably healthy and longer.
