AFTER THE 3-FARM LAWS OF 2020 (of India) HAVE BEEN REPEALED, THE ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES ACT, 1955 REMAINS IN ITS FORM AS IT EXISTED PRIOR TO JUNE 05, 2020: THIS ARTICLE IS IN THE BENEFIT OF READERS

I am aware, many of  my readers do work or may be working in the Product Areas of the Economy covering areas of Agriculture, Dairy, Foods, Drugs (Medical) and some may be even working in the Petroleum Sector as well.

The three Farm Laws of India, that got repealed recently were brought in, initially, as 3-Ordinances that were published in the Gazette of Govt of India on June 05, 2020, namely :

1. THE ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 2020 (NO. 8 OF 2020)

2. THE FARMERS’ PRODUCE TRADE AND COMMERCE (PROMOTION AND FACILITATION) ORDINANCE, 2020 (NO. 10 OF 2020)

3. THE FARMERS (EMPOWERMENT AND PROTECTION) AGREEMENT ON PRICE ASSURANCE ANDFARM SERVICES ORDINANCE, 2020 (NO. 11 OF 2020)

These three Ordinances as Presidential Orders were in force effective from June 05, 2020. Later on, these three Ordinances were introduced as Bills in the Parliament of India. The Lok Sabha approved the bills on 17 September 2020 and the Rajya Sabha on 20 September 2020. The President of India, gave his assent on 27 September 2020. Thus these 3-Oridinances were converted to 3-Acts by their respective names precisely effective from 27-September-2020.

The said 3-Farm Laws were stayed by the Supreme Court of India on 12-January-2021.

The said 3-Farm Laws have been repealed by approval of the Parliament of India in both Lok Sabha ( Lower House ) and Rajya Sabha ( Upper House) exactly on 29-November-2021 by THE FARM LAWS REPEAL ACT, 2021 (No.-40 of 2021 ), that received the accent of the President of India on 30-Nov-2021.

By the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 mentioned above, in section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, a sub-section (1A) was introduced which has been now deleted ( omitted ) by THE FARM LAWS REPEAL ACT, 2021, thus effective from 30-November-2021.

Therefore, the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, now remains in its form as it existed prior to June 05, 2020.

The Readers in India, who may be working in the areas such as Agriculture ( Dairy included ), Foods, Drugs (Medical), and Petroleum products that are covered under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, may note and take care for their own benefit, as certain responsibilities come under it for the functionaries working in these areas.

Enough materials are available in public domain in internet or elsewhere to read, anybody and everybody can read for their benefit, the citations I stated above are all available in public domain, this article is not for debating here, it is for information of the readers in their own benefit, categorically for the benefit of the readers who may be working in the areas of the products that are covered under Essential Commodities Act, 1955, as functionaries.

I did work in the said areas for decades hence I understand the responsibilities that come with Essential Commodities Act, 1955; and I thought to write in the benefit of the Readers ( as said, I emphasize the intention is not debating, and no debating on it here please, strictly).
