A REAL LIFE CASE OF AGRICULTURAL
FARMERS DOING ONLINE CLASSES
This is a real life case I am sharing.
Just yesterday evening I phoned my own Sister in Odisha ( In India ) on her mobile phone. She is younger to me by 5-years. She lives with her Husband and Children in a village in Odisha, can't be said to be a too much remote village, but a village approximately 10kms from one of the District HQs. They can be said an Educated Family and Educated Farmers.
First time I phoned, there was no answer. Second time I phoned there was no answer. I was worried, as I would make a phone call from Bombay and there would be no answer from her, it could be next to impossible. But I decided to wait for some time and call again.
After about 30minutes, her call back came. First of all being very scared ( this is a respect in Indian culture, but not getting afraid ) she said " Sorry, your Brother-in-law ( her husband ) was doing on-line classes " on my mobile phone and therefore I could not take your call till she finished it ". Her husband (my brother-in-law, reasonably educated ) was in fact studying in my School and one year Senior to me. The age can be guessed.
I got surprised when I heard my brother-in-law doing on-line classes. I asked what on-line classes ? She said " Online Classes on Agriculture ". Then I asked who is teaching in these online classes ? She said " The Sirs from OUAT and State Agriculture Dept ". She knows that I also studied at OUAT ( OUAT means Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology ). I asked what are they teaching ? She said " Many things, diseases and pests of Rice and other crops and many other things ". Of course she is not expected to tell me all that might be taught there, but I could anticipate and understand what all they might be teaching there and my brother-in-law would have watched by the mobile phone.
After that I said, I just called her to check her wellbeing and then we both brother-sister discussed our own family matters for a while.
Until now I was not knowing that there were online classes my brother-in-law was also doing on mobile phone. ( He would be about 62 by age ).
What best we can expect ?
Any knowledge can be shared, disseminated and adopted now for Society's Good. The ways and means have to be worked out.
