RAKSHA BANDHAN ( RAKHI PURNIMA ) IS A TRADITION DRAWING ITS
ROOTS FROM LORD KRISHNA PHILOSOPHY …
Lord Krishna Philosophy is such a
rich philosophy, there is no other philosophy that can match its depth. Raksha
Bandhan which got celebrated today largely among Indians around the Globe,
draws its roots from Lord Krishna Philosophy by the following story lines :
1. Once Lord Krishna accidentally
cut His finger by Sudarshan chakra and started bleeding profusely. It’s “
Draupadi “ who tore threads from her Saree and tied the finger of Lord Krishna
to stop bleeding.
2. Durbasha Rishi who is known for
his fire like great anger in mythology, once while taking bath in the Ganges
lost his clothes which got washed away by water current of Ganges. “ Draupadi “
was bathing nearby in the Ganges with a group of her lady escorts. Rishi
Durbasha went nearer to them while still naked inside water and requested the
group of bathing ladies if anyone could donate a piece of clothes which he
could wear covering his body and he could go to the shore. It is “ Draupadi “
who tore a piece of her Saree and gave to Rishi Durbasha to wear and could come
out of water with grace. Rishi Durbasha had blessed Draupadi that Lord Bishnu
should give her crores ( 1 crore is 10 millions ) of clothes to wear.
Therefore Lord Krishna was pleased
to save the honours of “Draupadi” as a brother while Kauravas led by “Dushasan”
were de-clothing her in the story of Mahabharata by giving her endless length
of Saree.
Even in Mahabharata Lord Krishna
stood by Pandavas including Arjun to ensure the end of perpetrating Kauravas to
keep the honours of Draupadi and Justice.
These story lines from Lord Krishna
Philosophy have motivated celebration of Raksha Bandhan, where a sister ties a
sacred thread in the hand of a brother wishing his well-being and long life.
The underlying story lines drawn
from Lord Krishna Philosophy are interesting and Raksha Bandhan as a festival has
been celebrated thrillingly. It has been such an important festival which has
not even been limited to inter-religion boundaries over time.
Obliged to Lord Krishna Philosophy.
