THE NAME OF COURAGE CALLED LAL BAHADUR SASHTRI

THE NAME OF COURAGE CALLED LAL BAHADUR SASHTRI            The Courage cannot be bought by paying a price, neither can be acquired by occupying a chair of power nor by inheritance. By occupying a chair of power and inheriting a power centre, although and admittedly one can display some temporary induced courage but not without limitation. The courage is a gift that comes with the persona, that came with Lal Bahadur (Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, The Former Prime Minister of India). When Lal Bahadur was a young boy, he didn't care that he had no money to afford a ferry, he dared to swim the whole of River Ganga if it came to reach his school. While at that time, many professional divers or swimmers were afraid to swim across the long stretch of the River Ganga, however, as a small boy, Lal Bahadur did it with his enormous courage. He uprightly threw away his family surname at the age of 12 only, to express his disliking for the deep rooted and deep...

TURNING POINT OF LIFE: TO LEAD AND TO FATHER A NATION: THE BEST CASE OF MAHATMA GANDHI

TURNING POINT OF LIFE: TO LEAD AND TO FATHER A NATION: THE BEST CASE OF MAHATMA GANDHI     Every person in whatever situation he/ she may be in, would have a turning point in life, that would install a change of course of his/her life to scale much higher heights (or down turn to much deeper depth-which no one likes or less cited). Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (the given family name of Mahatma Gandhi) was an England educated successful Barrister, a bright career of a jurist was ahead and possibly he had wished to be one of the best jurists of the world. He did never expect that he would do anything other than his illustrious career as a Barrister and scale great heights as a jurist of the world.  However, he had a turning point of life, that was the incident of Britishers throwing him out of the 1st Class Railway Compartment at the Pietermaritzburg railway station, located about one hour railway run from Durban in South Africa, on 7 th June, 1893. In spite of having a vali...

BETTER TO BE MINDFUL OF A POTENTIAL BLACK MARKET THAT MAY RAISE HEAD IF STEPS ARE HURRIED AND DETERRENT TO CHASE THE IDEA TO BE SELF RELIANT

BETTER TO BE MINDFUL OF A POTENTIAL BLACK MARKET THAT MAY RAISE HEAD IF STEPS ARE HURRIED AND DETERRENT  TO CHASE THE IDEA TO BE SELF RELIANT   The painful and enduring experiences during the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic stretching over three quarters of a year till date, has led a number of nations globally, including India to think and pursue the idea of being self-sufficient or self-reliant or “atma nirbhar” as called in India. The “Dream” or “Idea” of being self-sufficient or self-reliant in the long term is always considered to be a good dream or a good idea and it can be subscribed by one and large. Mahatma Gandhi was an ardent proponent of Self Reliance and even in post-independence era stretching from the call of Mahatma Gandhi from pre-independence era, India pursued the doctrine of self reliance and development of internal economy although accused of license raj or closed economy until 1991 when it opened its economy to the world market. India did Green Revolutio...

MAHATMA GANDHI PROVES THE THEORY OF “ONE PERSON CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE”

MAHATMA GANDHI PROVES THE THEORY OF “ONE PERSON CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE” Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Indian Nation, proves the theory of “One Person can make the Difference”. There are many examples in Science and Technology, wherein every invention or a discovery, done by an individual has contributed to the human society and civilization with a great difference. Just to give few examples, almost everyone in all corners of the world would immediately recall from top of the mind the names of ,   “Alexander Graham Bell” ( who invented telephone ), “Thomas Alva Edison”, (who invented phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early electric light bulb), “Louis Pasteur”(who invented pasteurization and discovered principles of vaccination, microbial fermentation and pasteurization with significant breakthroughs in the causes and prevention of diseases, and his discoveries have saved many lives over more than 150years time since his invention and discoveries ) and “Maria Salomea Skl...

NON-MATERIAL THEFT IS ALSO MORE DANGEROUS THEFT

NON-MATERIAL THEFT IS ALSO MORE DANGEROUS THEFT Normally when a theft is done and reported, most of the times people on the face of it understand it to be money or at the most some material goods which can have monetary value or can be monetized to raise some money out of it, may be big or small. However, Non-Material Theft or attempts to inflict Non-Material Theft is dangerous theft and more dangerous than monetary theft, though it may not be visible. Non-Material Thefts or attempts of Non-Material-Thefts are thefts of Reputation, Social Status and Stature, Popularity, State of Mind, Peace and Tranquility, Intellectual Property and Knowledge, Commitment and Virginity, Friendship, Relationship and Affiliation, Faith and Belief, Design and Technology and Art and Culture, while these could be the major examples seen from time to time, but this list is not exhaustive, there could be many more. The Non-Material Thefts or attempts to Non-Material Thefts are tried and inflicted by ...

THE IDEA OF RE-PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS IN INDIA COULD END UP TO BE A DISASTER: A WORD OF CAUTION

THE IDEA OF RE-PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS IN INDIA COULD END UP TO BE A DISASTER: A WORD OF CAUTION I have been reading in the media that some Central Bankers or former Central Bankers have been publishing statements and reports for Re-Privatization of Public Sector Banks. They may have their reputation and credibility for their statements and ideas to be taken as a pinch of salt by some members of public, however the idea of Re-Privatization of Banks in the Indian context could be a disaster, a word of caution for those who may jump to grab such an idea floated in the media.   It has been a fashion in contemporary times of India, that people who live, teach or work in America (USA) or elsewhere speak a lot and float ideas for operation of India or how will the Indian Republic will be run, which may or may not work in the context of the situation of India. Ultimately they don’t live in India, they have been away from India for long, they don’t see and feel the ...

AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT, INPUTS AND REFRIGERATION INFRASTRUCTURE NEED TO BE TAX-FREE OR MINIMUM-TAXED.

AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT, INPUTS AND REFRIGERATION INFRASTRUCTURE NEED TO BE               TAX-FREE OR MINIMUM-TAXED. A tax-free film is a beautiful example to exemplify my points mentioned in this note. Many a times, some of the Films of the Film Industry are made tax free, and when I was a child, I did not understand what does tax-free means, and when the film posters pasted on the walls on those days( there was not so much digital media then), used to mention as tax-free in big size letters super-imposed, this question had remained unanswered in my mind, till I grew in age to understand it. The films are made tax-free when a specific film has any societal value and to encourage that more number of people visit the cinema halls (or any other media in present age) and see the tax-free films. In case of a tax-free film, there is no entertainment tax (which is quite a lot in percentage and value), hence a ticket cost to view the film in Cinema Hal...

HIGHER INTEREST RATE REGIME: IMPEDIMENT TO DEVELOPMENT

Image
HIGHER INTEREST RATE REGIME: IMPEDIMENT TO DEVELOPMENT There is a relatively higher Interest Rate regime in India prevailing for a long time continuously and it is not being sustainable to run economic activity if it has to run in debt capital dependence. If the cost of capital is high, obviously it affects the economy everywhere with multiplier effect and the output of the economy is loaded with higher cost factors making it non-competitive globally. Let us see the Interest Rate regimes prevailing for about last 20 years internationally:  USA INTEREST RATE REGIME   ( https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/interest-rate ) EURO-AREA INTEREST RATE REGIME ( EUROPE ) ( https://tradingeconomics.com/euro-area/interest-rate ) UK (UNITED KINGDOM) INTEREST RATE REGIME ( https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/interest-rate ) INDIA INTEREST RATE REGIME                                   ...

WIDOWHOOD HAS A LIFE WHICH HAS TO BE LET LIVE DIGNIFIED AND RESPECTFULLY

WIDOWHOOD HAS A LIFE WHICH HAS TO BE LET LIVE DIGNIFIED AND RESPECTFULLY             I have been motivated to write on such a topic which could also be quite sensitive; since I read reports publicly published globally that during Covid-19, the fatality (death) of men is around two times that of women. It means the number of men who have died (also continuing to pass away) is twice that of women who have died (also continuing to pass away in the same ratio). That means, the number of married women who have lost their husbands would be twice the number of married men who have lost their wives and thus a large number of widows have been placed in the society during Covid-19 pandemic. Since this phenomenon came to my attention, I have been doing some research about how the people of such large number who are getting widowed would be conducting in the society, as historically a widow has a very constricted environment in the society; to operate cultural...
