IN COALITION POLITICS A JUNIOR PARTNER SOMETIMES CAN BE A COMPULSION TO TAKE WHAT IT WANTS AND SOMETIMES NOT TO BE OBLIGED : DEPENDS ON SITUATION AND STRATEGY BOTH-AS GIVE AND TAKE
Dear Readers,
In coalition politics sometimes a Junior Partner can become an "Inevitable Compulsion" to take what it wants and Sometimes can be "Phased Out" also and not to be obliged, depending on the "Situation and Strategy".
Coalition Politics is always dependent on "Situation and Strategy" that can suit to the Major Partner or the Junior Partners.
If the situation is such that a Major Partner in Coalition Politics can not achieve the objective it wants to achieve and, the dependence on a Junior Partner is an Inevitable Compulsion in such situation, then the Major Partner will be willing to give and succumb to what the junior partner would demand in order for the Major Partner to achieve its objective or their common objective.
However, there could be a situation also, where the strategy can be changed and a Junior Partner can be phased out and not to be obliged, still the Major Parter can achieve its Objective or the common objective. To have a situation like this, the Major Parter should create and take along multiple Junior Partners to keep them in competing situation, so that one of them does not become the inevitable compulsion and feels to be indispensable. In this case, the Major Partner can have the leverage and lever at hand to phase out a Junior Partner tending to be inevitable compulsion and not obliging it, and the Major Partner can still achieve the Objectives with Other Junior Partners.
This is a very interesting approach and strategy to have multiple junior partners in Coalition Politics. so that the Major Partner can avoid inevitable compulsion of a junior partner and total dependence on it and a junior partner does not become indispensable to snatch what it wants even at the cost of the major partner.
However, in Coalition Politics, retaining the Pre-Poll Alliances intact and managing it under trust, as I said, not making a junior partner indispensable and inevitable compulsion and harbouring multiple junior partners strategically keeping them in competition, while still the Major Partner achieving its objective or achieving the common objective, can work well and well sustaining in longer term interest, that can give leave way for the Major Partner to consolidate for the long term.
If you look around and apply your mind, you will find situations that could be very interesting in this line. Apply your mind and understand as you get to understand..... in all fairness, I can't progress to explain you more and further on this.
Coalition Politics is ultimately the system of "Give and Take"; when it is an inevitable compulsion, it is wise to "Give" and when it is a situation conducive to phase out a compulsion of a junior partner who can not be obliged at the cost of the major partner, do not hesitate to "Take".
What I am writing may sound like a lot of theory and mundane, however, it is the reality and pragmatically used in practical situations ... though can not be empirically displayed and demonstrated due to also inevitable compulsion in relevant situations, it is a limitation of the subject matter to deal with, let me admit.
