THE IDEA OF RE-PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS IN INDIA COULD END UP TO BE A DISASTER: A WORD OF CAUTION

THE IDEA OF RE-PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS IN INDIA COULD END UP TO BE A DISASTER: A WORD OF CAUTION I have been reading in the media that some Central Bankers or former Central Bankers have been publishing statements and reports for Re-Privatization of Public Sector Banks. They may have their reputation and credibility for their statements and ideas to be taken as a pinch of salt by some members of public, however the idea of Re-Privatization of Banks in the Indian context could be a disaster, a word of caution for those who may jump to grab such an idea floated in the media.   It has been a fashion in contemporary times of India, that people who live, teach or work in America (USA) or elsewhere speak a lot and float ideas for operation of India or how will the Indian Republic will be run, which may or may not work in the context of the situation of India. Ultimately they don’t live in India, they have been away from India for long, they don’t see and feel the internal

AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT, INPUTS AND REFRIGERATION INFRASTRUCTURE NEED TO BE TAX-FREE OR MINIMUM-TAXED.

AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT, INPUTS AND REFRIGERATION INFRASTRUCTURE NEED TO BE               TAX-FREE OR MINIMUM-TAXED. A tax-free film is a beautiful example to exemplify my points mentioned in this note. Many a times, some of the Films of the Film Industry are made tax free, and when I was a child, I did not understand what does tax-free means, and when the film posters pasted on the walls on those days( there was not so much digital media then), used to mention as tax-free in big size letters super-imposed, this question had remained unanswered in my mind, till I grew in age to understand it. The films are made tax-free when a specific film has any societal value and to encourage that more number of people visit the cinema halls (or any other media in present age) and see the tax-free films. In case of a tax-free film, there is no entertainment tax (which is quite a lot in percentage and value), hence a ticket cost to view the film in Cinema Halls is a lot less. For digital media, wh

HIGHER INTEREST RATE REGIME: IMPEDIMENT TO DEVELOPMENT

HIGHER INTEREST RATE REGIME: IMPEDIMENT TO DEVELOPMENT There is a relatively higher Interest Rate regime in India prevailing for a long time continuously and it is not being sustainable to run economic activity if it has to run in debt capital dependence. If the cost of capital is high, obviously it affects the economy everywhere with multiplier effect and the output of the economy is loaded with higher cost factors making it non-competitive globally. Let us see the Interest Rate regimes prevailing for about last 20 years internationally:  USA INTEREST RATE REGIME   ( https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/interest-rate ) EURO-AREA INTEREST RATE REGIME ( EUROPE ) ( https://tradingeconomics.com/euro-area/interest-rate ) UK (UNITED KINGDOM) INTEREST RATE REGIME ( https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/interest-rate ) INDIA INTEREST RATE REGIME                                                   ( https://tradingeconomics.com/india/interest-rate ) The graphical representations

WIDOWHOOD HAS A LIFE WHICH HAS TO BE LET LIVE DIGNIFIED AND RESPECTFULLY

WIDOWHOOD HAS A LIFE WHICH HAS TO BE LET LIVE DIGNIFIED AND RESPECTFULLY             I have been motivated to write on such a topic which could also be quite sensitive; since I read reports publicly published globally that during Covid-19, the fatality (death) of men is around two times that of women. It means the number of men who have died (also continuing to pass away) is twice that of women who have died (also continuing to pass away in the same ratio). That means, the number of married women who have lost their husbands would be twice the number of married men who have lost their wives and thus a large number of widows have been placed in the society during Covid-19 pandemic. Since this phenomenon came to my attention, I have been doing some research about how the people of such large number who are getting widowed would be conducting in the society, as historically a widow has a very constricted environment in the society; to operate culturally, socially, economically and ind

A HUMAN BRAIN IS HORIZON-LESS FOR WORKING IN NUMEROUS AREAS AND ACQUIRING KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERTISE

A HUMAN BRAIN IS HORIZON-LESS FOR  WORKING  IN NUMEROUS AREAS AND  ACQUIRING  KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERTISE      A human brain is horizon-less for working in numerous areas and acquiring expertise therein. It depends on the specific human being with respect to his/her situation and its environment, his/her education, training and motivation, working exposure to various areas, permitting health condition and energy level, interest areas and efforts in pursuing and acquiring knowledge, skill and expertise in several areas far and wide. Practically a human is capable of acquiring knowledge, skill and expertise in a large number of areas, no limit or horizon can be fixed to it, it depends on the person and his/her interest and efforts in this direction. It is possible and there can not be any doubt about it. This is justified from the fact that, according to published reports, a Human Brain (normal human brain) consists of about 100 billion neurons (brain cells) with around 1 qu

DR. V. KURIEN HAD SOME QUALITIES LESS PUBLISHED (TRIBUTE ON HIS DEATH ANNIVERSARY ON 09 SEPTEMBER)

DR. V. KURIEN HAD SOME QUALITIES LESS PUBLISHED         (TRIBUTE ON HIS DEATH ANNIVERSARY ON 09 SEPTEMBER) Based on my direct experience and interaction in person with Dr. Verghese Kurien ( in short well known as Dr. V. Kurien ), popularly celebrated as the Milk Man of India or the Father of White Revolution of India, the former Chairman of GCMMF Ltd. ( Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited-Amul ) and the former Chairman of National Dairy Development Board ( of India) as well as recipient of World Food Prize, I honourably place few lines as some qualities Dr. Kurien had but normally less published, as tribute to Dr. V. Kurien on his death Anniversary falling on 09 September.       1.     Dr. Kurien was a highly responsive communicator: I justify by an instance. In 1989, I used to work as a Branch Manager in charge of Patna (Undivided Bihar then) Office of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF,Amul), the position was of course fairly ju
